Happy Father’s Day to all good fathers past and present! And for this particular post, to all our African fathers. We need more photographs portraying the tenderness of African fatherhood! - Yagazie

This could have been a really interesting, insightful story about Nollywood. Sadly, the writer commits these, and other, no-nos:
- Fails to acknowledge that Nigeria ≠ Africa: While Nollywood may be popular “all over Africa”, how about acknowledging that NOT ALL AFRICANS SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE? (and certainly not the pidgin/dialect-heavy English many Nollywood films are written/improvised in)?
- Ignores relevant precedents: In several thousand words, this piece manages to suggest that Nollywood is Africa’s first significant film industry. Patently false. How about a mention of cinema powerhouses like Egypt, Senegal, Mali, etc.?
- Snarks the shit out of it: This is the story’s kicker: “It seemed impolite to interrupt to ask when the office’s electricity might return.” Fuck you, dude.
